Two Yumas

These are two tiles using the tangle Yuma.
The one on the top I named "Twisted Yuma" --I used a form of Yuma on the top and the tangle Liten on the bottom.
The one on the bottom I named "Leafy Yuma" kind of self explanatory.
There are some really gorgeous variations of this tangle on the Square One:Purely Zentangle Facebook group.
This tangle focus is for 2 weeks. I may give it a couple of more trys, but so far I'm not feeling a love for this one.

Black and White Zonked

This tile going to Facebook group Square One: Purely Black Zentangle.
I was going to shade with white charcoal pencil but upon further reflection I decided to just go pure black and white.
White Gelly Roll pen, String #189 by: Dorothy Allison, and tangles: Zonked, Barber Pole, Betweed, and a couple of other little fill ins.

Zonked String #198

This is a Renaissance tile. 3 1/2" X 3 1/2" square. They can be cut from craft or tan card stock or or them from Zentangle.com
The rules on the Facebook group are to use black Micron, Sepia Micron, and red Micron pens. White Gelly Roll or other white ink pens, white charcoal pencil for shading.
I didn't use any red on this tile.
I picked String # 198 from Tangle Patterns . Shirleen Long is the creator of that String.
The other tangles used on this tile are: Zonked, Trivolution, Revolution, Natti.

1 Narwal 1 Zonked Zentangle

I was back down this weekend with heavy coughing, so tired of it. Feeling better today.
I did this black tile last week but never got it posted. I will be posting it over on FB group Square One: Purely Black Zentangle.
I used a white Gelly Roll pen and a Zen Stone that I ordered from Zentangle.com
It's very interesting the way it shades on the black paper.

This second tile is for this week's Square One: Purely Zentangle--Zonked
I used String #175 from TanglePatterns.com

Another Narwal Tile

This was the first tile I managed to do with just shading on Narwal. For some reason I feel I must fill in all the spaces on Narwal. There is also Dragonair, Antidots, and Roxi 1.

Narwal Tangle

This first tile is my first practice of the tangle Narwal. I did it in my Tangle A Day calendar.

This second tile I did without a string. Free hand Narwal. It grew and evolved as I went along, not exactly what I first had in mind, but kind of interesting. Lots of tangles fitted into small areas.

Now over to Facebook to post in appropriate groups.

The first tile was actually my very first attempt at Flip Flap.
The second tile is my last attempt at Flip Flap.
The third tile is my first attempt at Natti by Anita Westin.

WIP with Mandala Designer Toy

At Christmas there was a Co-Present for my Grandson and me. A Mandala Designer by Ravensburger for ages 6+. Last night I cracked open the package, read the instructions and created this Mandala. I better connected some of the lines and thickened some others. It is now ready to be tangled.
It's on a 8 1/4" square piece of computer paper and the circle is 6 3/4" round.
Stay tuned for finished product.

2 Versions of Flip Flap

I have been practicing a tangle by Staub Korn. We're in the same groups on Facebook. Her tangle is called Flip Flap.
It has been quite a posser for me for some reason. The tan tile is going in the Square One: Renaissance Group and the black tile is going in the Square One: Black Zentangle Group.
If you haven't tried out this tangle give it a try, very interesting.

"Tints On Tan" Tile

I achieved this tile by using  "Tints On Tan" Seaside Edition Kit. This technique of Zentangling has been developed by Marty Deckle,CZT and Jenny Perruzzi, CZT. These are two very talented ladies.
I first saw and heard about this method on Laura, i am the diva, CZT challenge blog. I was drawn to this technique because of the colors. My photo may come through as the colors being brighter than they are, but they are very soft. In my opinion something else that makes this so striking is the alternating use of black, sepia, and white inks.
I am going to post this in the Facebook Group Square One: Purely Fun Zentangle.  I will put the email address here and in the comments on my post there in case you might be interested in learning more about this technique.

I think I may have to join the Renaissance Tile Face Group next.

Nine Zens

I have been laid low by a relapse of an upper respiratory infection. Husband and Grandson came down with it this time. We all went to doctor, got shots, more meds, and cough syrup. While I've been down I've been getting in drawing time just not posting time. The last couple of days I finally feel like we're actually going to be well.
These tiles are going to be posted in various Facebook Groups.

These first two are going to the Square One: Purely Zentangle Group.
The tangle for last week was Printemps. The second tile I used String #176 by Barbara Finwall which I got from TanglePatterns.com  I also used tangles Betweed and Diva Dance.

The next 3 tiles are going to the Facebook Group Square One:Purely Black Zentangle. One the first one I used a Decorese White pen and white charcoal pencil to shade. The tangles I used are: Printemps, Jelly, and Jelly Moon, or variations of on the first one.
The second tile I switched to a white Jelly Roll pen with white charcoal pencil to shade and used the tangles: Printemps, Pepper, and a variation of Florz.
The third tile was again a white Jelly Roll pen and white charcoal pencil, tangles: Static, Msst, variation of Florz, and Barber Pole

This tile is going to Facebook Group Square One: Purely Fun Zentangle.
I've seen a lot of people practicing with Molygon lately so I thought I would give it a try. I don't think I got the steps exactly right so I need some more practice, but I thought this turned out pleasing to the eye.
I used black Micron Pen 01, Copic Multiliner 01,05, gray PrismaColor pencil.

The next two tiles are for the Facebook Group Square One: Purely Zentangle group.
This weeks tangle is Heartswell created by Helen from A Little Lime,  I've been an admirer of her work for a long time. She creates with a clean, crisp style.
The first tile is trying to stick to the step outs with a little bit of copying one of her examples to get the feel of the tangle.
The second tile I'm calling Heartswell Exploded. It just kept growing. I know some of you tanglers out there will know what I'm talking about.

This last and final tile for this post is going to the Facebook group: Tangle Gems: Zentangle Inspired Jewels and Stones.
In honor of Valentines Day I tried my PrismaColor pencils for these red hearts. They are ok, but I'm afraid the Polychromos pencils have won my heart over. (no pun intended)
I didn't think of tangle names I just put whatever bezels came to mind as I went around the tile.

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to look and read through all this post. Maybe I can stay well and do more posts with one project at a time.

C-scape + Fengle

FB Group Square One: Purely Fun Zentangle

I pulled out my small Zentangle journal to practice some variations on C-scape. I started with what I thought was going to be Fengle but got off  track about the third swirl. So I fell back on my favorite lately BarberPole added some Tipple proceeded on with a variation of C-scape some Flux topped it off with  some little circles and curliques. I intended for it to come out a square but for some reason this was my end result.
Off to post these in the Facebook Groups.

FB Group Square One: Purely Zentangle    C-scape + Checkerstar

I'm calling this one C-scape Squared with Checkerstar in the middle.
Truly a variation on the original C-scape.
Not much to say today, even with Zentangle it's been a very stressful day.

Turquoise gem

FB Group Tangled Gems: Zentangle Inspired

Last night I decided I wanted to try a turquoise gem. Turquoise is a bit different, it's not really a gem per se. It doesn't have that see into quality that other gem stones have.
Turquoise is a blue green mineral of phosphate, copper, and aluminium. The dark parts of the stone are part of its make up so I wanted them to be prominent.
I was so caught up in the technique of what I was trying to achieve that I did not keep track of the colors I was using, except for three: black, light and dark gray, and a Sepia.
I put those colors down first, but then I went from light to dark layering. At one point I was tempted to get out a copper metallic pen, but held off. I wanted to see what I could achieve with the Polychromos pencils.
I'm pleased with this piece, but I think I might have to add a bit of copper shine next time.

Purple Gem

FB Group Tangled Gems: Zentangle Inspired

I invested in a 72 set of Polychromos pencils. They are oil based instead of wax based liked PrismaColor pencils.
I am really liking them. I find it easier to build up several layers with a smoother transition.
I wrote the colors down as I used them: Black, Delft Blue, Mauve, Purple violet, Crimson, Cream, White. Also, a white Sakura Decorese pen for the highlights.
I started with the dark to light, light to dark method, I think about 3 1/2 layers here.
I have to give shout outs to Eni Oken and Stephanie Jennifer for their wonderful teaching skills. I'm trying to put them into practice.

Peppers and Wud

FB Group Square One: Purely Zentangle--Peppers and Wud

I finished this tile today. Some Wud framing some floating Peppers.
I start out thinking Ok I've done a tile by the step outs now the next one I can practice some variations of that tangle, then as soon as my pen hits the paper those solid black peppers appeared.
This is one of the times when my 2 words for 2016 come into play: Upwards and Onwards. Keep practicing and making art. (Or what I call art)

8 Tiles Posted to Facebook Groups

The first tile I was practicing shading with markers and PrismaColor pencils. I invested in Eni Oken's eBook on ZenGems and Shading. I like the way she uses the dark shadows.
The markers I used were Stampin' Up and the white pen I used is Sakura Decorese pen.
One the second tile I used a black H pencil with PrismaColor pencils and the white Sakura Decorese pen.
The third tile I used Stephanie Jennifer's method of coloring gems with PrismaColor pencils and the white Sakura Decorese pen.
Onto the next tile:

This tile I originally done for Artful Creations but never got it posted there due to coming down with an upper respiratory infection. So tonight I posted it on the Facebook Group Square One: Purely Zentangle. The tangles I used were: Abundies, Akoya, and some little leaves.

This tile I posted in the Facebook Group Square One: Purely Zentangle for their One Challenge from a couple of weeks ago I think--being sick I'm completely off track and trying to get back on--
The tangles I used are: Henna Drum, Barber Pole, and Aura Leah.

These next two tiles I posted in the Facebook Group Square One: Purely Zentangle for their One Challenge Pokeleaf. These are the tangles I used on the first tile: Pokeleaf, Betweed, Cresent Moon, Rain (I think, but not sure), Shattuck.
The second tile I used tangles: Pokeleaf, Barber Pole, Beedz.

This last tile was also posted in the Facebook Group Square One: Purely Zentangle. I think I'm finally up to date on the One Challenges. This week the One Challenge is Pepper. The tangles I have used on this tile are: One Pepper, one variation of Pepper, Wud, Condo, Hollibaugh with Tipple to fill in Hollibaughs background.

Thanks for visiting my new blog. If you love Zentangle as much as I do I hope you visit often. I love comments and any suggestions any one may have about anything I have posted here. With kindness please.
I love the pure original form of black and white with a little bit of shading Zentangle. I like the graphicness of it.
You will also see me post some Zentangle with color added from time to time. The ZenGems have taken hold of a lot of Zentanglers imaginations so we're all piling on to that trend. It's fun learning how to make the Gems shine and seem real.
The world of Zentangle is a fun art form to explore.
